Submit questions, access resources, and receive guidance from national experts in Severe Mental Illness (SMI).
Our mission is to promote the utilization of a person-centered approach to care that ensures individuals with SMI receive the necessary treatment and support. For healthcare providers, we provide access to education, data, and consultations to facilitate evidence-based treatment decisions. For individuals, families, caregivers, or anyone seeking information related to SMI, we offer access to resources and insights from a nationwide network of experts. SMI Adviser is financially supported by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) and managed by the American Psychiatric Association (APA).
